This page lists the submission guidelines for authors wishing to submit their book proposals or manuscripts to Flying Pen Press. The publisher is expressing immediate interest in science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels, and in poker books and role-playing-game books. For a list of all other non-fiction topics that Flying Pen Press will consider, turn to this page, here. (Flying Pen Press does not publish poetry, erotica, YA, or children’s books.)
Fiction Submission Guidelines At this time, Flying Pen Press is not currently considering unsolicited submissions. If you're interested in submitting, please contact us with your resume, publishing bibliography, and the status of your reader following. Please keep in mind before contacting us that you must have a completed manuscript ready for review.
Our minimum word length for all fiction is 65,000 words, with a maximum length of 150,000 words. We prefer novels of 75,000-120,000 words. Please include the total word count for your manuscript in the initial email.
Fiction queries should be sent to submissions@flyingpenpress.com
Non-Fiction Submission Guidelines We are currently seeking non-fiction submissions. Please feel free to contact us with a query or with a complete manuscript. Please note that for memoirs, we're asking only for queries at this time.
Flying Pen Press considers all but the shortest nonfiction submissions. Our nonfiction books can range between 48 pages and 828 pages, in various trade-paperback trim sizes. We generally do not publish books with color pages except in very special situations. For this reason, we do not consider art or photography books.
Non-Fiction submissions should be sent to submissions@flyingpenpress.com.
For all submissions: We generally seek World English-Language Rights, as we sell and distribute our books all over the globe. We do consider Reprint Rights, English-Translation Rights, Foreign Language Rights or North American Rights in some special cases.
Responses: Flying Pen Press will review your query as quickly as possible, and we'll contact you if we are interested in seeing the complete manuscript. Please note, however, that due to time constraints, we may not be able to respond to all queries.
