Sandra Novack, an author currently under contract with Random House, posted a friendly review of Kelli Mix's book, The Game Day Poker Almanac Official Rules of Poker, on her blogsite at http://blahblahblahwriter.blogspot.com. The review is admittedly biased, as Novack is a close friend of Kelli Mix, but we at Game Day always think that it is great to see one's friends supporting one's projects.
Ms. Novack was kind enough to grant permission to reprint her review here. Thanks go to Ms. Novack, and we are looking forward to seeing her first novel soon.

Props to Kelli!
Don't know what to get for the person who has it all and wants to gamble a little away (or make more)? As you sit at a table with people who speak another language entirely, those who call armadillos "'possums on the half shell" and say, ya'll, and, y'all,y'all'ss (?) and chew, have you ever wondered what REALLY are the rules of Texas Hold 'Em? Wondered, maybe--just a little--if because you don’t understand the game you are getting quietly screwed by people who smile and ask for your goods? Ante up: I have been there, my friends, many, many times here in Whitesburg and elsewhere. And each time I wished I had Kelli next to me. Seriously.
Sistas and Brothas up North(they don’t gamble in the Bible Belt, or drink, y'all KNOW that, don't ya?), do I have a book for YOU. Kelli Mix's Official Rules of Poker.
Kelli is the pal I have talked about: a true professional poker player who makes—I can’t even say—quite a few blessed dollars each game. Quite a few. She’s a champ. She’s hysterically funny, and she wrote this book, which is full of useful information about game playing. Aside from this, she also is considering a job as an editor. She also writes short humorous pieces, and writes fiction. Props to Kelli!! Send the word out on her book. I got to see her this past Saturday, and it was great to catch up. She’s a hoot and a talent, and is down-to-earth, all at once—a lucky combination. Triple sevens!
